Once upon a time…
During the latter part of 1892, the idea was conceived by a number of citizens that Nauvoo should have a bank. On September 16, 1892, a group met in an old store building to create said financial institution. The directors elected during this meeting were: Max Reimbold, R. Atchsion, J.B. Icking, Ernest Heck, Thomas Powell, John Pitt, and Wm. Rupp Jr. During the remainder of the year, by-laws were drawn up and other details attended to.
On January 16, 1893, the stockholders met in their new building (one block west of the bank’s current location). The capital of the bank was $25,000. At the close of the first year the bank had deposits of $66,386.50.
Throughout the years there have been many changes in banking and technology, but we have always remained a people-focused bank. Our stockholders, employees, and customers continue to be people we know and love and we continue to be a locally owned and operated independent community bank.
